Jane James
The Menopause & HRT Discussion Group
My knowledge of menopause comes from a combination of well over a decade of lived experience and formal training through several CPD menopause education programmes. Having experienced surgical menopause myself, I understand first-hand just how challenging the physical and emotional impact of menopause can be, particularly when you don’t have the information or support you need.
For almost two years, I worked as a Support Mentor with Menopause Care Ltd, supporting women through their individual menopause journeys. More recently, I have taken that experience forward and now work independently as an Independent Menopause Support Mentor, providing women with a listening ear, practical support, guidance and signposting to help them feel better informed and more confident about the choices available to them.
I am also delighted to now be working alongside Voy, helping to raise awareness of the menopause care and support they offer and, importantly, giving women another choice when it comes to accessing specialist menopause advice and treatment.
Alongside this, I continue to help Davina McCall manage her free Menopausing & Me support group, a thriving community supporting women of all ages, while continuing my work within the menopause community that has been such a huge part of my life for many years.
My mission remains simple: to help women feel heard, understood and better informed about menopause, HRT and the options available to them.
Menopause stole years from my life. If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, it would be this:
“Be prepared. Understand what’s coming. Surgical menopause can be brutal, and nobody prepared me for the physical and mental toll it could take. Educate yourself, ask questions and never be afraid to seek the help and support you deserve.”
